Interview with Nowthen magazine

I challenged myself to represent my contemporary era through my art.

Iranian visual artist and Nowthen favorite  gets us up to speed on her recent work, including a new collection of paintings.

Destruction and devastation of human life are the fundamental keys of my new collections using the [Iranian royal] Qajar dynasty as a reference. I chose this theme and time period to show the dark days of my country. The heroes died. This collection is a representation of contemplation and the cultural symbols that we lost during history.

I focused on the tragedies and turmoil of Iran’s past.

The early stages of full deformation in structures narrowed down to certain areas which keep the main shapes [alongside] my own articulation and decoration. The sharp colour pallet [has] changed to darker colours.

representing the contemporary era through art

As an artist, I feel that it is my duty to capture the current situation of my country and the world. I use my art to express my emotions, thoughts, and opinions about the events and issues that affect me and my society. I challenge myself to create original and diverse pieces that reflect my personality and vision. I hope to inspire curiosity and wonder in those who engage with my work and to encourage dialogue and reflection among viewers.
